Self-care--giving your body what it truly needs

I get a massage almost every week no matter where I am, eat a healthy diet, schedule time alone, and if I get to a point where I feel I need a block of time...I'll cancel.
-- Anne Wilson Schaef

Do we love and care for our body as well as we love and care for our home and car? Do we feel our body deserves full attention and a loving maintenance plan?

Taking our body for granted is easy because of its remarkable durability and regenerative power. We may get lulled into a false sense of "nine lives" body security, believing our physical being will fix itself no matter what.

Self-care takes time and priority planning to be successful. We may find we put off our exercise and nutritional needs saying, "Tomorrow I'll start taking better care of myself." But sooner or later tomorrow comes, and our body produces symptoms that demand attention.

Learning to love and nurture our body brings rewards without measure. We deserve to reap the benefits starting today.

Prayer: Today let me realize that respect for my body builds a healing temple in which the rest of my life can grow.

Do you need help loving your body? I can help.

"A woman's relationship with her body is the most important relationship she will ever have. More important than husband, lover, children, friends, colleagues. This isn't selfishness--it's just a fact. The body is, quite literally, our vehicle for being--for giving, for loving, for moving, for feeling--and if it doesn't work, it's fairly certain that nothing else in our lives will work either."

Ladies, do you need help loving your body? Do you wonder what that even means or how to go about having a loving relationship with your body? I can help! This is what I help my clients to do--to learn to love their bodies and all of who they are. Let's set up a time to talk more about what you desire for your body and your life and to see if Transforming You Health Coaching is the best fit for you. Lord's Prayer in Aramaic (translated)

Oh you, breathing life in all, origin of the gleaming sound,
You shine in us and around us, even the darkness glows
when we remember.

Help us to draw a holy breath, in which we feel only you
and your sound ring in us and purify us.

May your counsel rule our lives and make our intentions
clear for the common creation.

May the burning wish of your heart unify heaven
and earth through our harmony.

Grant us daily the bread and insight that we need:
What is necessary for the call of growing life.

Release the cords of the errors that bind us,
as we let go of that which binds us to the faults of others.

Do not let superficial things lead us astray
but instead free us from that which holds us back.

From you come the all-effective will,
the living strength to act, and the song that beautifies
everything and which renews itself form age to age.

True vitality to these testimonies!
May they be the ground out of which all my actions grow.

Sealed in trust and faith.

Amen

~Lord's prayer in Aramaic

Radical Action

This is how the process should work, your intuition
should guide you into forming a right intention, you
should take note of that intention and your physical
and emotional bodies should translate that intention
into the appropriate action.

This is the only way to ensure that your intention is
the right one in the first place and that the subsequent
action is the correct one to follow that intention. Otherwise,
life may carry you off on a journey that you are not too keen
on traversing. Life only flows as it should when we intend
and act as we should.

The best thing you can ever do is to implicitly trust your
intuition, one hundred percent. If you can do this, you
will not need to spend all your time intending because
you will automatically do what you need to do, without
any questions. It will happen naturally, as the Universe
commands, you will follow the Universe's lead.

When you trust and follow your intuition, everything
you need to do in life becomes instinctive, like taking
a step, or taking a breath or blinking an eye. You do
not think or mull over it for hours, you do not pine
and whine for it, you just do it. Your intentions and
actions become one, without any hesitation. You think
as you should and do as you should and your life flows
exactly as it should."

Seeds of Trees

"It's common to say that trees come from seeds. But how can
a tiny seed create a huge tree? Seeds do not contain the
resources needed to grow a tree. These must come from
the medium or environment within which the tree grows.

But the seed does provide something that is crucial : a place
where the whole of the tree starts to form. As resources
such as water and nutrients are drawn in, the seed organizes
the process that generates growth. In a sense, the seed is
a gateway through which the future possibility of the living
tree emerges."

What is truly calling you in 2011?

In 2011:

1. Select out a few 'seeds' - project, focuses, desires - and really focus on protecting, and nurturing those precious few. 2010 was all about throwing lots of seeds out there and seeing what grows. 2011 is about letting many of those seeds go, and only protecting a few. The best analogy I heard was from Pamela Eakins, Phd, whose said imagine last year you threw down lots of seeds and this garden started to grow, and now this year, the goats have arrived, and they are going to start to eat everything up. If you could only save a few seeds what would those be? Build a fence around those, protect and grow those.

2. Narrowing your focus and letting go is okay - trust it. So as you choose your specific seeds, you are going to have to let the goats eat the remaining seeds. Which means you will have to let go of ideas, project, goals, to-dos and more. This of course freaks us overdoers and overachievers out. Just know that this act will bring up some fear, and notice when the fear shows up. Calm your Inner Mean Girl down by closing your eyes, breathing. See how letting go frees you up to have more impact in what you do do. This is about activating your Feminine Super Power of Trust.

3. Focus on what you are being called to do, because not everything is yours to do. This should make it easier to trust, if you can let your over-responsible Inner Mean Girl take a vacation, knowing that there are MANY people on this planet who are doing great work, who are here to do the things you can't, and who want to help you. My friend and transformational artist Shiloh McCloud always says: Imagine yourself sitting in a circle of women, passing around a ball of red thread. As each woman holds her piece of the red thread we form a strong circle that is powerful enough to do anything. Now imagine cutting off your piece of the red thread. Look down at this one piece... this is what is yours to do. If we each do our part, we don't have to do everyone else's. Whew!!

4. Slow down. Likely you are missing opportunities and working harder than you need to. By letting things go you will automatically slow down, as long as you don't pick more up. Walk through 2011 with a heightened awareness of your pace. As one woman said to me recently, 'Enjoy the nectar of the earth. Eat the nectar of life." What if your life rolled like honey in 2011?
As you sort out which seeds are yours to grow, water, and take care of this year, use these questions to help you:

What is calling me the most?
How can I best serve? (your gifts are your service, find those gifts and give those)
What will provide me the most stabilization? What will create structures that stabilize my life?
What are my deepest heart's desires for this year?
What does my fear say I need to do, and what does my heart know is mine to do?
